Captive of the Desert
Film of Raymond Depardon – 1989 – 1h38 - OV
With Sandrine Bonnaire, Dobi Kore, Isai Kore
Captive
of the Desert is a fiction related to the story of a young
woman, Françoise Claustre, taken in hostage by
Toubou rebels in Tchad from 1974 to 1977 whom Depardon
interviewed during her captivity. This is a fiction focusing
more on the conditions of the captivity than on the political
environment of her detention. Therefore, it is a film
in which speech becomes scarce, rigorous, uncluttered.

Untouched by the West
Film of Raymond Depardon – 2002 – 1h45 - OV
With: Ali Hamit, Brahim Jiddi, Wodji Ouardougou
It
is also about an evocation of the life of one of the last
free men of Sahara in early XXth century. Alifa is a child
when he is taken in by a hunters group. Being dying, he
is about to die of thirst in the middle of the desert.
Raised within this tribe, he is never totally accepted
there. Free man, without ties, his relation to the world
is per se related to the issue of alterity.
