This series of photographs begins in Brussels in 1996. While visiting a workshop, images pop up.
This exhibition, sprang from a steady collaboration with designer Olivier Theyskens, offers a range of 10 years of pacing up and down the backstage of the designer’s fashion shows. Julien Claessens takes over these moments of bustle, preciseness and tension to enhance serenity, evanescence or the underlying sensitive thoughts of these very moments. Then a new aesthetic emerges and takes us to the very personal universe of the photographer.
If Julien Claessens is above all a portraitist, time makes this “fashion” series an integral part of his personal work.
