I always have this photograph in
mind. It happens sometimes with
some pictures that literally engrave
your memory. It is the case of that
photo – a child-cyborg, a
girl-doll, looking at the viewer
with her disturbing eyes (are they
made of glass?).
Sometimes, during my classes, I
tell students that we all are a
bit of a cyborg ourselves, and they
all look quite appalled. But if
you think about it, the borderline
between the real world and the virtual
world is so thin, those two worlds
penetrate and influence each other
mutually, and to remain in the virtual
world can sometimes be really “real”.
This may help to understand better
that our condition as a human is
also a cyborg condition
