Here is another
questioning: do our bodies really
are “natural” bodies?
How many of us wear contact lenses,
hearing aids, cardiac pacemaker,
prosthesis, etc…? Can the
“natural body” really
exist if “nature” is
actually just a cultural material?
This series is a tribute to the
Italian paintings from Renaissance.
It is inspired by famous secular
paintings (Leonardo Da Vinci’s
“Portrait of Cecilia Gallerani”
or his “Lady with an ermine”,
Lorenzo Lotto’s “Portrait
of a young man”, Piero de
Cosimo’s “Simonetta
Vespucci” etc...). The presence
of the animals enhances the emotional
side of these portraits, providing
a strong emotional link between
mankind and existence. (1)
(1) We may
quote the biblical passage about
the sixth day labor:
"Let us make man in our image,
in our likeness, and let them rule
over the fish of the sea and the
birds of the air, over the livestock,
over all the earth, and over all
the creatures that move along the
ground."
