"Love is in the hair"

This work is inspired by the anthropomorphic relationships between mankind and the animal kingdom… I wanted to put up relationships with the animal side that each one of us carries inside. I do so specifically using “hairs”, which is generally condemned by the modern beauty standard in the West, and by diverting our look on hair, and pointing out its wild side, making it “fur”… I also wanted to show dogs in a more abstract way, I didn’t try to make it as a portrait, so that the eye can catch only the “hair”.

"Trois fois trois grâces "

Summing up all the Muses, these triptychs are a world-of-beauty tour, like a variation around the most pregnant painting of the collective unconscious Raphael”s “Three Graces”, a beautiful painting of the three ages of woman, housed in Musée of Chantilly. But it is here a global version, because beauty, cleared out from its prejudices, standards and rules, is omnipresent and universal. I substituted apples (1) – (which, nevertheless, were supposed to reward the virtuous hero in the painting) with butterflies, a symbol of fleetingness.

(1) Actually apples bring me back to the episode of the Golden Apple, said Apple of Contention, and claimed by three Goddesses, Athena, Hera and Aphrodite. During a banquet, Eris, goddess of contention, sent an apple with the mention “Let it be given to the most beautiful". It was awarded to Aphrodite, who promised Pâris for his wife the most beautiful woman in Greece. That promise led to the Trojan War, for the love of the fair Helen.
