Henrike is 28 years old, live and
work between Berlin and Paris.
After several years dedicated to
photography as a personal mean of
expression, then for commissions
for fashion or communication, she
uses it today as a medium that she
transforms with different techniques.
The real work starts once the photograph
is taken. Scissors, cutters, brushes
are the tools used for the creation
of unique pieces made from her pictures.
“They are important to me,
like old masters’ paintings.”
She tries to approach nature, and
human nature, to find in it a melody
of respect, love, tenderness, and
above all delicacy.
Her creations need to be looked
at in many layers, appearing as
one goes closer, just like people
around us needs to be looked at
closer to be known.
She presents 4 series in Lille:
“Découpages”
series. Several weeks working with
a cutter, turning a model into tree
branches, bird’s feet and
many other things.
Extracts from “Glühbirnen“(light
bulb), 2008, digital editing, recreating
a microcosm in light bulbs.
Extracts from “Arbre Rouge”
(Red Tree), 2007, inspired by a
children book, untitled the same,
by the australian Shaun Tan.
Extracts from « Böser
Mütter », 2008, a fashion
series repainted with paint.
