My photographs
are the scene of my dreams and fantasies.
They are the last step of a long
process of thoughts and making.
First I draw my daydreamed pictures.
Then I make costume and sceneries
to set up the shot.
The negative synthesizes the whole.
“Magic Fillette” collects
portraits and self-portraits from
different series. Used for bills
of the Opera du Rhin or for fashion
magazines, every one of these personal
pictures shows woman in a magical
almost sacred representation: they
are Icons. From the reverie of a
young girl living in a world of
fairies to Greek tragedy goddesses:
I worked on as a visionary artist,
picturing my Muse as a fantasized
character. Sometimes, hiding from
view, the model’s face is
really just a façade to the
viewer. Yet he gives himself up
to the games and wishes of the photographer.
I like to find again that childish
pleasure of being someone else with
the only help of a crown or a cloak.
Just as a poet plays with words,
I divert object from what it was
originally meant for, or I reorganize
the space around me so to make up
a story. The making of a costume
or a prop is my way of questioning
appearances, how one reveals or
hides oneself. My thoughts about
materials, light and colours of
one clothe are as an echo to fashion
and to my ideas about fashion photography.
