Commissioner General: Anne de Mondenard

"Sites animated by urban movements or signs, invisible to our hurried eyes, still virgin landscapes, lands abandoned to their historical or political complexity, pictures which outline a more intimate space: the 2005 edition of the Transphotographiques festival invites us to discover a photography resolutely turned towards the exploration of these territories;. A festival in the heart of Europe...

2005 Patron :

Raymond
Depardon

Raymond Depardon turned towards photography and lives upon it right from the age of 16. He became a reporter, worked for Dalmas Agency then created Gamma along with Gilles Caron. After a few reports filmed in Venezuela, in Biafra and in Tchad, he directed his first small length in 1969 at the moment of Jan Pallach's funerals in Prague. Raymond Depardon makes his work as a photographer live through documentary by emerging as the specialist of a direct cinema approach inspired by the United States, raw and without any comment. Humanist, Raymond Depardon denounces inequities and sufferings ('Africas: what about Pain?'). He set off late on fiction in 1985 with 'Empty Quarter, a Woman in Africa' then 'Captive of the Desert' in 1990. In 2004, ten years afterCaught in the Act, the filmmaker focused once more on the French judiciary system with 'The 10th Chamber' telling the daily task of the Correctional 10th Chamber of Paris through twelve cases that occured between May and July 2003. The film was presented at the 2004 Cannes Festivalin the non-competing part of the official selection.
